At Northwest, we believe that participation in athletics widens the educational experience and makes school more enjoyable. In addition to strengthening physical skills, students learn valuable life skills including how to work on a team, ideals of fairness and sportsmanship, self-discipline and responsibility, and respect for authority and teammates.

Sports Physicals

The following was communicated from Geisinger Sports Medicine. Due to the current COVID-19 state and the need to ensure all precautions are taken for our student-athletes, Geisinger's school physicians recently met to discuss the best/safest method to perform the mass pre-participation physicals for sports. We will be hosting the physicals within our Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Clinic located at 1175 East Mountain Blvd. on Saturday, July 18. This location will allow us to ensure social distancing is in place as well as provide the proper pre-screening process. Athletes will be escorted directly to an exam room and remain in the exam room while the athletic trainer and physician come to them to complete the physical, instead of the athlete rotating through multiple stations. The athlete will then be escorted back out to their vehicle.

In order to make this a smooth easy workflow we are asking that the athletes and parents completed all required portions of the CIPPE prior to arriving, leaving only the physician page left blank. We do encourage parents at this time to utilize their primary care physician as an option but understand that is not always an option due to the dates outlined by the PIAA.

Please see our pre-participation sports physical document for physical times and requirements.

***No sports physicals will be conducted at school this summer. Athletes have two options to get sports physicals for the fall: July 18 at Geisinger Sports Medicine Clinic at 3:00 p.m. or by your family doctor.
