Continuity of Education

The administrative team, faculty, and local intermediate unit have been working very hard to develop a plan to continue to service all of our students at Northwest. Please review this letter from Superintendent Joseph Long for details on our continuity of education plan.

March 19, 2020, Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update from Superintendent Joseph Long

We hope everyone is healthy and doing well during this troubling time. The events over the last few days and uncertainty about what is to come is unnerving and unprecedented in our time. The Ranger family will overcome this together.

We know the COVID-19 virus has placed a strain on all districts in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. PDE has offered little guidance to any district as to how the rest of the school year will play out. The administrative team, in addition to serving lunches, works daily to develop all of the scenarios that could happen and how we will best transition our students and give them the quality education they deserve. I have been in communication with government officials, union representatives, superintendents, CDC, and PDE to ensure that our district and students will be safe, and we will be ready to come back to school when ordered.

For now, we once again encourage our families to be patient, practice the recommendations of the CDC for maintaining good hygiene, practice social distancing, avoid large crowds of people, and spend some quality family time together. As new information comes to us, we will pass it on to our community in a timely fashion.

Please remember we are serving lunches to those who register by 8:00 p.m. the night before using our website, the Northwest app, or calling the school at 542-4126, ext 5006.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Dear Northwest Area Community,

The administrative staff, from custodial maintenance through the superintendent's office, is aware and has been implementing the strategies needed regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19). We will continue to monitor and follow the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the State Department of Health (DOH). The State Department of Health activated the Health Emergency Operations Center to streamline cross-sector coordination. The DOH also continues to update factsheets and information pertaining to the virus on its website.

Please take a moment to read Superintendent Joseph Long's letter in its entirety.
