A Message from Our Superintendent

Dear Ranger Families,

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused extraordinary challenges for our entire Ranger family since March 13, 2020. Our schools were in the unwelcomed position of having to close abruptly and deal with an unprecedented situation. The district finished the year in a challenging position of virtual school or packet production for students that did not have access to the internet. In addition, all of us experienced many disruptions in our everyday lives and were presented with many new challenges. Many of the time-honored traditions and rites of passage did ins we know it. Your support and partnership during this unusual stretch of history is greatly appreciated.

As an administrative team, we are now faced with the task of planning school and the safe return of our students. With Ranger family support, we are confident that we can accomplish this task that would meet the needs of all stakeholders. While health and safety concerns are paramount, data from recent student, parent, teacher, and administrator surveys show that most prefer live teacher instruction and that it is essential to our students’ educational growth and progress.

We have scheduled Northwest Area students to return to school on Monday, August 31. Currently, our committees are working on all aspects of the plan to develop viable options for instruction that allow face-to-face instruction by our teachers, as well as, a health and safety plan for a phased reopening of schools. Using the data from our survey, our goal would be to provide learning options paths that would accommodate our entire community. We are investigating all options that would include virtual instruction provided through Northwest Area School District. The plan for delivery of instruction and our health and safety plan will be available by mid-July when approved by our school board. Please be aware of a survey that we will release for parents to opt into whatever form of education they would feel comfortable with for their children.

Northwest Area students and families will continue to be the focus of any plans of reopening the schools this fall. Our ultimate goal is returning to normal, with our students in classrooms connecting with our teachers. We understand that this process will take time and will present problems and protocols that we will need to address for the safety of our students and staff. Thank you in advance for your continued support, patience, and trust as we continue to prepare for potential learning options given the uncertainties of the situation surrounding COVID-19. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school.

Yours Truly in Education,

Northwest Area Administration
