    A Message from Our Superintendent

Dear Northwest Area School District Families,

As per the order of August 31, 2021, by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Governor Wolf, all students and staff in the Northwest Area School District will fall under the universal mask mandate for indoor schooling regardless of vaccine status beginning on Tuesday, September 7. This order includes the federal mandate of masking on school busses.

Please take a moment to review the order directing face coverings in school entities for more information.

The best education for a Northwest student is in front of a teacher five days a week. The Northwest Area school district will:

    • Allow for students to remove the mask for physical education classes.
    • Remove masks for cafeteria while seated and eating.
    • Remove for outdoor recess as it is not covered by this mandate.
    Sincerely,

    Joseph F. Long Jr.
    Superintendent
