Who We Are

We are Northwest, and our Rangers are the pulse of this community. As educators and community members, we work together to create an environment that promotes a desire to learn and succeed. Northwest Area School District serves Shickshinny as well as the borough of New Columbus and the townships of Hunlock, Union, Huntington Mills, and Fairmont.

Mission

In collaboration with family and community partners, the Northwest Area School District shall provide a safe, supportive, and rigorous academic environment within which all students can access a continuum of services which fosters life-long learning and produces responsible contributing citizens.

Driven to Succeed

We are driven to succeed. Working together—administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community members—we provide an exceptional education for all Northwest Area Pre-K through 12th-grade students.

Board Meeting Change of Date

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Directors of the Northwest Area School District changed the date of their Regular Board Meeting from Thursday, February 19 at 7:00 p.m. to Thursday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the middle/high school.
