FAQ
How do I enroll my child at Northwest Area School District?
Does your school offer breakfast and lunch?
We operate an excellent nutrition program at each campus. Our cafeteria serves breakfast and lunch every school day for a reasonable price. We also participate in the federal free and reduced price lunch program for those who qualify. For more information or to apply for free/reduced meals, please see our Food Services page.
What if my child requires medication during the school day?
We will administer medication in accordance with state regulations and with physician and parental approval. Please complete our medication authorization form and bring medications in the original, labeled packaging to the front office. For more information, please see the Health Services page.
Do you provide transportation services?
We are pleased to provide our students with safe, reliable transportation to and from school each day. We consider bus riding a privilege and expect all students to adhere to the rules for their own safety as well as for the safety of others. For information on bus policies, schedules, and routes, please visit our district Transportation page.

We welcome visitors, and highly encourage all visitors to call ahead to your respective school when planning to visit or when you need an appointment. Please adhere to the following protocol:
- If you are entering the building but do not need access to the hallways (i.e., you’re not dropping off or picking up students, books, lunches, medications, coming for a parent-teacher meeting, etc.), you must report to the school’s front office area and sign the visitor booklet.
- If you need access to other parts of the school building (i.e., you are dropping off or picking up students, books, lunches, medications, coming for a parent-teacher meeting, etc.), visitors must produce a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license to the building secretary upon entering the building in order to gain entry.
- If a visitor who wishes to enter the building does not have a valid driver’s license, he/she will need to have their identity confirmed by a district employee before entering.
