Biography
About Ryan Miner
Mr. Miner was born and raised in Hunlock Creek and is a proud 1997 graduate of Northwest Area High School. After high school, he attended Penn State Wilkes-Barre for two years and then transferred to Bloomsburg University where he earned a degree in secondary education—mathematics. Mr. Miner was hired to teach high school mathematics by the Hanover Area School District in 2003. He spent two years at Hanover before returning to Northwest in 2005 to teach 9th grade algebra. Upon his return to Northwest, Mr. Miner enrolled in the master’s program at Wilkes University and received a master’s degree in education in 2008. Mr. Miner then attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received a K–12 Principal Certification in 2010. Mr. Miner served as the dean of students from 2008 to 2010 and became our high school principal in 2010.

Biography
About Matthew Mills
Mr. Mills is a 1991 graduate of Danville High School. After graduation, Mr. Mills enlisted in the US Navy where he was assigned to various submarines as a sonar technician. During his ten years of active duty in the Navy, Mr. Mills visited 19 countries and made four six-month deployments to various parts of the world. After his return to Danville, Mr. Mills attended Bloomsburg University and earned a degree in secondary education—mathematics. Mr. Mills was hired as a mathematics teacher at Northwest Area School District in 2009. During his time as a teacher in the Northwest Area School District, Mr. Mills was also an assistant track and field coach for three years as well as the assistant FFA advisor for one year. He earned a master’s degree in education in 2014. Later that year, Mr. Mills departed Northwest to pursue his career as a high school administrator. One year later, Mr. Mills returned to Northwest as the assistant secondary principal and athletics director. In July of 2016, Mr. Mills was appointed as the elementary principal at Northwest Area.
